Catch & Sea

Catch AND SEa

2020 dates coming shortly

The award-winning Catch and Sea tour created by Wendy Gallagher is a unique, sunrise breakfast fishing tour which offers visitors a totally different perspective of our stunning coastline voted #1 region in 2018 by Lonely Planet.  This brings to life stories about our local landmarks, legends, wildlife, traditions, food heritage and people.

Catch and Sea‘s “menu” makes it a unique trip:

Up and out before sunrise; the call to “cast-off” on a traditional working fishing boat; our islands, coastal features & sea life up close; watching the sunrise - resplendent over the ocean; a fishing rod in your hands - perhaps for the first time; catching that fish and learning how to fillet it; feeding the friendly, hungry, seabirds with fishy leftovers; taking pride in presenting your catch (and you will catch something!) to the Chef.  Finally seeing it cooked for breakfast and sampling in conjunction with award-winning local produce you may have never tasted, or been aware of, before that day.

The breakfast experience illustrates the true meaning of ‘our place on a plate’, showcasing what else Northern Ireland produce can offer.  Guests indulge in what many say, is the freshest breakfast they’ve ever eaten, with a beautifully presented, healthy, plate of local food.  Freshly caught mackerel served on Ursa Minor sourdough bread baked only hours previously, spread with gorgeous Abernethy butter, topped with crispy shards of Broughgammon Farm goat bacon and a softly poached free range egg, seasoned with a drizzle of Broighter Gold rapeseed oil, North Coast Smokehouse smoked sea-salt & dulse.

Guests say it’s hard to experience a more inspiring way to start their day, allowing them the remainder of the day to sample our other tourist attractions; be it bird watching on Rathlin, Games of Thrones locations, visiting Ireland's only World Heritage Site, enjoying a dram in the world's oldest, licensed, whiskey distillery, surfing Blue Flag beaches, drinking locally brewed Lacada beers or even golfing on nearby, world famous, links courses at Royal Portrush, Portstewart or Castlerock.

Customer testimonial;

One-of-a-kind experience, you'll definitely want to do this!

We went on the Catch and Sea tour with Wendy this past week and everyone in our group had an absolutely amazing time! I would highly recommend doing any of these tours, especially for anyone looking for a little out-of-the-box experience! It's clear from the first moment Wendy starts talking to the group that she is very passionate about the tours and her country - her appreciation for the local culture is contagious and I think we all left there wanting to know more about all the local producers. Besides the actual fishing, we learned a lot about the nature and places we saw from the boat, including Dunluce Castle. They also provided coffee/tea and little snacks while we were out, which is a nice touch! Once we got back, we went to a chef's kitchen and had a great breakfast while learning more about the Causeway Coast Foodie Tours offerings. We will definitely be back!
